The effort, led by sponsors Dist. 5 Ald. Rocco LaMacchia, Dist. 6 Ald. Dave Paff and Dist. 16 Ald. Dominic Ruffalo, sought the City Council to end the mask mandate as of Monday night. This would have cut it short approximately 24 days.

However, only LaMacchia, Paff, Ruffalo and Dist. 12 Ald. Mitchell Pedersen voted in favor of repealing the Kenosha mandate early.

As a result, the effort failed, with a possible extension effort looming on the horizon, according to alderpersons’ comments Monday night.

The Uptown Observer will update this story with further details and audio of the discussion during last night’s meeting tomorrow (May 4).
