Nia program to help African-American youth ‘Rest and Reset’

KENOSHA ⏤ Kenosha County UW-Extension and Kenosha Public Library’s Nia: Pathways and Purpose for the Future program is hosting “Rest and Reset” on Jan. 19.

The event ⏤ for African-American youth in 8th-12th grade ⏤ focuses on helping students “relax after finals and start envisioning what’s next for them this year,” UW-Extension said in a release about the event.

From 4:30 to 6 p.m. on Jan. 19, the Southwest Neighborhood Library will host therapy puppies to help youth de-stress after exams.

God’s Kitchen ⏤ founded and owned by the ever-loving Arnetta Griffin ⏤ will also provide a delicious dinner for the youth.

Dr. Monica Cummings of Bradford Unitarian Universalist will lead a guided meditation during the event.

Lastly, UW-Extension staff will lead a vision board creation workshop. During the workshop, staff will support youth in mapping out their goals and plans for 2023 and beyond.

The “Rest and Reset” event is free of charge, and you do not need to sign up in advance to attend.
