BRISTOL ⏤ The Kenosha County Sheriff’s Department has identified the suspect in a Thursday deputy-involved shooting in Bristol as Allen M. Brown, 33, of Countryside, Ill.

On Thursday, Brown allegedly fled deputies after they initiated a traffic stop at the Benson Corners gas station near Highway 50 and US 45 in Bristol. Brown drove a stolen vehicle involved in a Chicago homicide at the time.
As Brown fled on foot, the department’s K9, Riggs, chased after him. Brown then pulled out a gun and shot Riggs. After Brown shot Riggs, deputies returned fire ⏤ hitting Brown. Deputies gave first aid at the scene, and emergency personnel took Brown to an area hospital.

Brown is currently in stable condition, according to a release from the Kenosha County Sheriff’s Department. He remains hospitalized.
K9 Riggs is also in stable condition. According to a KCSD social media post, Brown shot Riggs in the forehead, leading the K9 to be rushed into surgery. However, the department expects Riggs to make a full recovery.
Kenosha County Sheriff David Beth expressed gratitude to the community for its support following news breaking of Riggs’ injury.
“Riggs is a hero and potentially saved the lives of our deputies and the public,” Beth said.
Racine County Sheriff’s Department investigating
As a Kenosha County deputy is involved, the Racine County Sheriff’s Department has stepped in to investigate the deputy-involved shooting on Kenosha County’s behalf.
Charges for Mr. Brown will be forthcoming once the investigation is completed and submitted to the District Attorney’s office, KCSD’s release states.
