KENOSHA COUNTY ⏤ Late Tuesday evening, County Board Supervisor Jerry Gulley officially announced that he will run for Kenosha County Executive in 2022.
The current county executive, Jim Kreuser, is retiring at the end of his ongoing term in April 2022.

Gulley announcement
In his announcement, sent to news media and posted on social media, the Pleasant Prairie resident dove into why he wants to put down further roots in the area.
“I bought my home here in 2012 to be near my in-laws. I’ve been privileged to live in so many beautiful parts of our country ⏤ Tennessee, New York, Silicon Valley, Birmingham, Seattle, and most recently, San Francisco. But Kenosha is the first place I’ve called home.”
Within a decade of moving to the area, in 2020, the people also elected Gulley to serve as the County Board supervisor of the 16th District.
Work on County Board
Most recently, Gulley’s public service work came into focus as he chaired the county’s Racial Equity Work Group.
That work group set the guidelines that the county’s first Racial and Ethnic Equity Commission, created via resolution, would follow. The committee will analyze county policy and identify instances of systemic racism or also other bias.
Its members will also give a report on their findings and suggest solutions to the County Board after their review.
With a quick turnaround, Kreuser recently announced his picks to fill the spots on that committee. The County Board, likewise, approved Kreuser’s appointments.
Work in business sector
Outside of public service, Gulley has also “launched and grown successful companies for over 20 years,” his release states.
“I’ve recruited, hired, retained and mentored large teams, and I have deep experience in public health policy, healthcare, technology, literacy, marketing and communications,” Gullely said. “I’m the first to recognize I may not seem like a typical candidate, as I haven’t been immersed in partisan politics for decades.
“But my deep experiences in private and public companies and nonprofits will add a fresh perspective to county management.”

Gulley will be “sharing his plan for reorganizing the staff of the office of the County Executive” over the next few weeks. He states he will also be sharing his priorities and positions for six critical county functions in that time:
- Economic opportunity;
- Health and wellness;
- Citizen engagement;
- Infrastructure;
- Planning and sustainability;
- And budget and finance.
