Take time to stop by one of Kenosha’s Monday night open mics

KENOSHA ⏤ With a lack of city government meetings tonight, how about checking out local musicians at Kenosha’s Monday night open mics at Fusion and Rustic Road?

EP 14: Do what you can Inside the Mind of Daniel Thompson

In this episode, I talk about how changing ones area of focus can make the difference between meaningfully addressing an issue or just giving up on trying to entirely. — Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/mind-of-daniel-thompson/support

For months now, local musician Haven Wells has run her open mic at Rustic Road Brewing Co., 5706 Sixth Ave. The Rustic mic offers somewhat of an intimate space for both bands and singer-songwriter acoustic acts.

And while a more intimate setup might be intimidating to some, it comes with a wealth of support from fellow musicians, as we’ve witnessed countless times at the mic.

Kenosha Fusion open mic

Starting at 9 p.m., musicians can also take advantage of the open mic/jam that takes place at Kenosha Fusion just a little ways down the road to the north at 5014 Seventh Ave.

Michelle Warnecke, of Indigo Canyon, host the mic, which is a more full-scale band experience. Fusion contains one of the few traditional stages in Kenosha currently utilized for open mics in the city.

As a result, the open mic/jam ranges from featuring acoustic acts, to full-blown jams when, say, Josy Rosales of Earthmother, Eli Eastridge, Oscar Mercadillo or any of the Spirit Shakers take to the stage with other artists.

Therefore, please, take time to review some videos from the mics above, accompanied by photos from the mics below.

And of course, go out to them if you like what you see/hear and feel safe to do so.

If you do go out, please remember the city still has a mask mandate in effect until May 27.
