Editor’s note: By the definition that the FBI uses to determine it, this shooting is technically a mass shooting. And our hearts break for the victims, their families and our community for getting caught up in this seemingly wholly American tradition of loved ones taken too soon by gun violence. We are sorry for your loss. We are sorry for all of our loss.
SOMERS ⏤ An update from the Kenosha County Sheriff’s Department has raised the number of shooting victims at Somers House to six, and possibly seven.
Deputies took a person of interest in the crime into custody by Sunday afternoon. That person will be charged with one count of first-degree intentional homicide. Additional charges are pending further investigation.

KCSD Sgt. David Wright sent a release to media at 4 p.m. stating that the response has been “a collaborative effort involving dozens of law enforcement officers.”
“This complex investigation involves several crime scenes,” Wright wrote.
This includes officers from seven different agencies, and personnel from eight different fire departments.
“There is no threat to the community at this time,” the department states.
Kenosha County Sheriff’s Department
