#ObserverConversations: Talking about building trust, police life with KPD Detective Tommar Franklin

KENOSHA ⏤ Last week, the Uptown Observer had the opportunity to sit down for a long and very enlightening conversation with Kenosha Police Department Detective Tommar Franklin.

However, the conversation between the Observer and Franklin covered more ground than a simple write-up could show.

Therefore, please take the time to watch the interview for yourself below in four parts.

Part 1: Military service, family life, joining KPD

In the first part of the interview, Franklin spoke about his previous military experience and the family conversations that brought him to the Kenosha community.

Both influenced him to apply and hire into the Kenosha Police Department.

Part 2: Trust is everything

In the second part of his interview, Franklin discussed the importance of trust between the department and the community.

Not only as a means for peace, but also as a means for the department to truly be effective.

Part 3: Officers must enforce the law, regardless of whether they agree

In this third part of the interview, Franklin delves into the history of law enforcement and the duty of officers to uphold the law ⏤ whether they agree with it or not.

He also touches on perceptions of law enforcement and how they affect interactions with the community.

Part 4: Who is Tommar Franklin?

In this short clip, the detective answers one final question: In a nutshell, what should people know about Tommar Franklin?

We hope that you’ve enjoyed being part of our conversation with Franklin. And we hope you’ll join us next time we delve deeper into the lives of other local figures.
