KDOG yields more than 3,600 grams of marijuana, $19,000 in Tuesday bust

KENOSHA COUNTY ⏤ A Kenosha Drug Operations Group investigation yielded more than 3,600 grams of marijuana and $19,000 in cash Tuesday.

According to a release from the group’s commander, Sgt. John Wilke, KDOG served a search warrant on a home on the 1000 block of 88th Avenue in the village Somers around 2 p.m. March 9.

Prior to Tuesday, investigators secured the warrant in conjunction with a narcotics investigation involving Somers resident David Kelsch, 32. 

The release also notes that, at the time of the bust, Kelsch was out of jail on bond. 

Huge find in residence

When searching through Kelsch’s residence, investigators found:

• 3,685 grams of processed marijuana;
• 29 marijuana plants;
• 5 packages of marijuana seeds;
• 2 small containers of THC wax;
• 26 vials of anabolic steroids; 
• 1 stolen rifle;
• 1 pistol;
• Several hundred rounds of ammunition; 
• Several thousands of dollars in marijuana growing equipment;
• And also $19,193 in U.S. currency.

Slew of marijuana charges recommended

As a result, KDOG is recommending a slew of drug charges for Kelsch ⏤ currently being held in Kenosha County Jail.

By Thursday afternoon, the Kenosha County District Attorney’s office had leveled 16 charges against Kelsch, including:

• 3 felony counts of bail jumping;
• 2 felony counts of manufacture/deliver THC > 200 -1,000 grams, on or near a school;
• 2 felony counts of manufacture/deliver THC >1,000-2,500 grams;
• A felony count of possession w/ intent to deliver THC > 200 -1,000 grams;
• 1 misdemeanor count of possession of amphetamine/LSD/Psilocin mushrooms;
• 2 felony counts of possession of firearm/domestic abuse injunction;
• 1 felony count of possession of stolen firearm; 
• 2 misdemeanor counts of bail jumping;
• 1 misdemeanor count of possession of a controlled substance; 
• And also a misdemeanor count of possession of drug paraphernalia.

Kelsch appeared in court for the first time on the charges Thursday afternoon.
